Queen Mother: The New Royal Residence Will be Rebuilt Soon

SIEM REAP: Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk has announced that the new Royal Palace in Siem Reap will be rebuilt soon.

The King and Queen Mother of Cambodia were informed of the shocking news that a fire broke out at their Royal Residence in Siem Reap while still in Beijing, China for an annual medical check-up. The Queen Mother has written a message of thanks to all Cambodian citizens and members of the international community who have expressed their sympathies over the fire incident which took place on Sunday, 12 March 2023 at around 10:05 pm.

The Queen Mother wrote that the Royal Residence of Siem Reap, which is more than 70 years old, has great historical and national significance, and is the place where King Norodom Sihanouk resided after he completed his Royal Crusade for Independence in France, Canada, the United States, Japan and Thailand.

It should be noted that on Monday morning, 13 March, the Minister of the Royal Palace, Kong Sam Ol, organized a ceremony to dismantle and repair the Royal Residence after a fire broke out and caused damage to the building on Sunday night.
